I stayed at the Hollywood Hotel on my recent trip to Hong Kong in June. Truth be told I was debating between this hotel and the Explorer Lodge. Hollywood won out in the end due to price (although it was only a smidge less expensive than Disney’s Explorer Lodge). Because I booked this the day before I arrived, it ended up being close to $288.
My flight landed at 5am and I was at the front desk of the hotel by 6am. The cast member who checked me in was gracious enough to give me the option of upgrading to check into my room early. I think the upgrade was about US$20 and totally worth it to be able to check in and freshen up at 6:00am!
My room had a beautiful view of the grounds behind the resort, and was super spacious with a ‘20s Hollywood vibe. In each room are two complementary giant bottles of water, along with a special edition tin in the bathroom and themed slippers in the bedroom that you can take home with you after your stay. There are also all of the standard amenities in the room (like bathrobe, hair dryer, coffee/tea, room service, etc.)
The hotel lobby is beautiful and has an upscale ‘20s Hollywood feel about it too which extend out into the grounds outside… complete with tall palm trees and a giant Hollywood Hotel sign. There are lots of fun other nods to Hollywood throughout the resort that are not to be missed.
For dining there were a surprising number of options including a quick service restaurant called Hollywood & Dine that is open for breakfast and lunch. I had the Dim Sum platter (for BREAKFAST!) and it was the perfect meal.
There is also a character dining restaurant called Chef Mickey. It’s open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I didn’t have the opportunity to eat here but the buffet looks fantastic.
Other things to note about the hotel: there is a pool, gift shop, and complementary shuttle service to and from the parks.
All in all I loved my stay here. If you are budget conscious but still want to stay at a Disney Resort then this is a great option.
