​Before I left for Disneyland Paris I did a lot of research on where to stay.  I knew the chances of my coming back anytime soon were not high and so I really wanted to take advantage of my time there.  I was also coming off of 2 weeks of intense work related travel and knew I wanted to be comfortable and conveniently located to the parks.

I ended up choosing the Newport Bay Club because it had been recently renovated in 2016, it was close to the parks, and was within my price range.  I stayed there for 5 nights/6 days and was not disappointed with my choice.  In this post, I’m going to walk you through my stay there and share some of my general observations about staying at a Disneyland Paris Resort. 

​​Let’s start with general observations.  The first observation is that unless you are planning on staying at the Disneyland Hotel all of the other resorts are relatively the same distance to the parks, even the value resorts (at most they will add an extra 5 minutes to your walk).  It took me about 10-15 minutes to walk to the parks each morning from the Newport Bay Club.  

​My second observation is that it is really not necessary to stay at a Disneyland Paris resort if you it doesn’t work with your itinerary or budget.  It is really quite easy to get to the parks from the metro and the metro stop is actually much closer to the park entrances than the resorts are.  This is great news for those of you who prefer to stay in Paris and do a day trip or 2 to the parks.  I personally loved my time staying at a Disneyland Paris resort but I don’t think it’s necessary to enjoy these parks at all. 

Lastly, transportation from the airport to the hotels is pretty easy.  There are several options available to you.  I chose to use the Magical Shuttle as advertised on the Disneyland Paris website because I had a lot of luggage and wanted to be dropped off as close as humanly possible to my hotel.  The Magical Shuttle is NOT free unfortunately and it also goes to all of the resorts so keep this in mind when booking. If you are in a hurry to get into the parks this is likely not the option for you. They also only run from 9am – 8:45pm so if you have a flight that gets in very early or very late this will not work for you.

​​Now on to the Newport Bay Club itself.  The first thing you’ll notice is the security.  Disneyland Paris has taken the tragedies that have happened around Europe VERY SERIOUSLY and as such have implemented security that rivals airport security (if not better).  Before you are allowed to enter any of the resorts all bags go through a scanner (including purses and shopping bags).  It doesn’t stop there though. Every time you enter downtown Disney you also have to go through security which includes bag scanners.  I personally can’t think of a safer place to visit right now. 

​​The resort itself is gorgeous and also massive.  It is the largest resort on property (and at the time it was built the largest in all of western Europe).  I was on the bottom level where the pool is (which would have been very convenient if I had taken advantage of that).  Every morning it was about a 5 minute walk from my room to the lobby but I didn’t mind it.

​My room itself was perfect. It was a decent size and there were several cute Disney touches throughout.  The bed was very comfortable and I even took a bath one night!  One thing to note, is that the rooms all have standard European outlets so if you are coming from another country, bring an adapter.

​​Each morning there is a different character available for a meet & greet which can be the perfect start to the day.  I did not take advantage of this opportunity because I was anxious to get into the parks right at rope drop and there was always a line to meet the characters.

​​There are 2 restaurants on property.  The first is a buffet style restaurant called Cape Cod.  I didn’t eat here mainly because I didn’t want to do another buffet.  The second is a full service restaurant called Yacht Club and I did have dinner one night here.  It was one of the best meals I had while at Disneyland Paris and the service was fantastic.  It is a pricey restaurant but the Newport Bay Club itself is a pricier hotel so it’s on par with a 4-star resort.

​​There is also a bar/lounge on property called Captain’s Quarters and I spent a bit of time here too.  It is such a comfortable lounge area and they also have snacks so if you’re in need of a quick bite this is a great option. 

​​In addition to what has already been mentioned there is also a boutique store on property that has a small selection of Disneyland Paris parks merch.  It’s a great option for last minute gifts or souvenirs.   

My last tip when booking any Disneyland Parks hotel is to shop around.  This is the one Disney Park that offers different pricing and different deals for different countries.  I ended up booking via the UK website.  It was significantly cheaper than booking through the US website.
