Top 5 Places to Stay in Wyoming

I LOVE Wyoming and fully understand why Jackson Hole is an annual destination for many families.  There’s something to do for everyone. And when it comes to national parks, it just doesn’t get much better than Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons.  So today I’m going over my top 5 places to stay in Wyoming to help you as you plan your next trip.

1. Heart Six Ranch – Moran, Wyoming

It’s no secret, that I am obsessed with this place.  We were originally referred here by a friend and have now, consequently, have ourselves referred countless people.  This is a classic “dude ranch” type experience with lots of lodging options.  Stay in your own log cabin or even a covered wagon!

There is an on-site restaurant, which was super convenient for days when we just wanted to chill on the ranch.  There are also daily horseback riding experiences including 2-hour rides, half-day rides, and even pack trips.

Heart Six Ranch is also nicely situated near both Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park.

2. Antler Inn – Jackson Hole, Wyoming

If you want something closer to the hustle and bustle of Jackson Hole, check out the Antler Inn.  This reasonably priced motel has a cute rustic cabin vibe to it and is in the heart of the action.  Stay here for easy walkable access to lots of shopping and dining.  You can easily meet up with tour groups for white water rafting and horseback riding excursions, as well.

3. Old Faithful Snow Lodge – Yellowstone, Wyoming

For those who want to stay in the heart of Yellowstone, it doesn’t get better than the Old Faithful Inn & the Old Faithful Snow Lodge.  Both of these hotels are located next to Old Faithful and provide luxurious accommodations for guests.  The Old Faithful Inn is the older of the two and the more expensive.  The Old Faithful Snow Lodge is the newer lodging and it feels like it.  Of the two, I recommend the Snow Lodge just because it’s less expensive but doesn’t seem like it.

There are several on-site dining options, as well as walkability to Old Faithful and the surrounding geyser basins.  Get a cup of coffee in the morning and watch the sunrise as Old Faithful lets off steam in the morning.  There is nothing more magnificent.

4. Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel – Yellowstone, Wyoming

If you’re looking for modern accommodations located within Yellowstone, then the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel is your place to stay.  These rooms feel like you’re staying in a Marriott and the tiny downtown area provides some good dining and shopping options for the family.  It’s near many popular Yellowstone attractions such as the Mammoth Hot Springs and Norris Geyser Basin, and is the newest of Yellowstone lodging options.

5. Canyon Lodge – Yellowstone, Wyoming

A bit more centrally located than the other Yellowstone lodging options, Canyon Lodge provides easy access to the Upper and Lower Falls area, Yellowstone Lake, and the Hayden Valley area.  The rooms are brand new (although a bit on the smaller side) and there are lots of them (meaning it might be easier to secure a reservation here).  There are a couple of different cafeteria style food options on-site, as well as a general store.

The one downside to staying in this area is the lack of Wi-Fi and cell service.  It was impossible to use our phones in the room.  We had to go to the general store in order to access the Wi-Fi.

That concludes my list of the top 5 places to stay in Wyoming.  There are definitely a few more swanky options in Jackson Hole but I wasn’t privileged enough to check those out on this trip. (Maybe next time!)  Hope this helps you as you plan your next trip to Wyoming!
